Effective Speaking and Presentation Skills
We have something special for February, educator and master presenter Lee Harrington will be sharing the secrets to speaking effectively in front of groups, helping your classes be organized, engaging, and exciting in ways that will have your students coming back for more.
Have you always wanted to speak in front of a crowd but are too jittery? Perhaps you are an experienced speaker or educator who wants their lectures and presentations to stand out and be remembered? Come learn how to effectively use your voice and body language to communicate your message in a wide variety of teaching and speaking environments. From claiming your space to audience empathy, use of vocal range to hiding your nervousness, we will plunge in together and you will come out more certain of your ability to deliver your message.
Though the skills we will be using and developing are good for all individuals, examples and stories will be from within a BDSM, Kink, Leather, LGBT, Queer, Poly, Swinger and beyond context. Bring tools for taking notes, wear comfortable clothing, and have an open mind for exploring the joy in passing on our passions. Students will receive a digital take-home packet in addition to the in-class resources that will help further development of their unique voice and skills.
Doors open at 6pm and close when class begins.

From gas masks to choking, bagging to shared breath play, tantric breathing to nooses, Lee will cover them all and more.
This stuff makes us hot, so fess up, because you are not alone!
Lee will also touch on auto-erotic breath play, complicated breath play scenes, and health issues involved in breath play.

Free show tonight: Crime and the Forces of Evil at the Wayward
I'm doing a free show tonight at the Wayward Coffeehouse in Greenwood (8570 Greenwood Ave. N), Seattle, at 8pm. There's no cover, and it’s a coffeehouse, so it’s all-ages. Sample tracks from my band's upcoming CD Dick Tracy Must Die are posted here, on the band website; clickie
Tonight's a solo show - just me and my instruments - but I'll still do my best to keep it awesome. And if you think I’m joking about the rage-driven acoustic (yes, acoustic) elfmetal in the poster – I’m not
. Come see.

Seattle Speaks: Marijuana Policy Wed. May 19th at 7 p.m.
There is an exciting conversation about marijuana in our state. Be part of it by tuning in and logging on, Wed. May 19 at 7 p.m. With online polling, facebook and email, your thoughts will be heard. Or get a free ticket and participate in person.
During this year’s legislative session, elected officials introduced bills both to legalize and decriminalize pot. None were passed. Signature gathering is underway for a citizen’s initiative (I-1068) that would allow the adult possession, cultivation and use - medical or otherwise - of marijuana. How do you think we should regulate marijuana? Will you sign the initiative?
Using cutting edge technology both the studio and online audience will participate in real-time conversation using people meters, testimonials, email and social media including Twitter and Facebook. To stimulate this discussion, we’ve invited special guests including an anti-drug crusader who lost his son to an overdose (it's impossible to overdose from marijuana), passionate marijuana activists, City and State lawmakers and more. SEATTLE CHANNEL’s dynamic public affairs host C.R. Douglas will lead the lively exchanges.http://www.seattlechannel.org/seattlespeaks/

Mark your calendars! Fifth Column Annual Holiday Party Returns!
Most people agree-company holiday parties suck. Get your drink on and have some fun! We won't tell anyone at the office. It's how we roll.
We have some lovely things planned that we can't tell you about yet, so you should keep checking info about this event. On Facebook? RSVP Here!

NEW YEARS HELP
4 of my friends and I are heading to Seattle for New Years this year from Vancouver, BC, Canada.
Can anyone suggest events or clubs that might fit our needs?
ABOUT US: We are in our early 30s, all female, like to listen to live music, like to dance at clubs, are on a budget so we don't want to pay more than $50 on club entrance fees, and lastly don't want to be in a place over run by teenagers or families.
(Any details on great hotels near the venues you suggest would be helpful too but not necessary!)
THANKS in advance!
